Position Overview:
We are actively building a pipeline of highly skilled Senior Acquisition Specialists (SMEs) to support anticipated federal program needs across multiple agencies.
The Senior Acquisition Specialist (Subject Matter Expert) provides advanced expertise in federal acquisition strategy, procurement lifecycle management, contract administration, and regulatory compliance. This role supports complex acquisition programs from pre-award planning through contract closeout, ensuring alignment with FAR, agency-specific supplements, and mission requirements.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience supporting federal contracting environments, including DoD or civilian agencies, and serves as a trusted advisor to program offices, contracting officers, and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise across the full federal acquisition lifecycle, including planning, solicitation development, evaluation, award, and post-award administration
- Advise program managers and contracting officers on acquisition strategy development and procurement planning
- Develop, review, and refine acquisition documentation including Statements of Work (SOW), Performance Work Statements (PWS), Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs), and Acquisition Plans
- Ensure compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), agency supplements (e.g., DFARS), and internal procurement policies
- Support source selection activities, including evaluation criteria development and technical evaluation coordination
- Conduct market research and industry analysis to inform acquisition strategies
- Assist in contract negotiation strategies and risk mitigation planning
- Monitor contract performance and support contract modifications, renewals, and closeouts
- Provide acquisition reporting, briefings, and decision support materials for senior leadership
- Serve as a liaison between program offices, contracting authorities, and external stakeholders
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior acquisition staff and analysts
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Acquisition Management, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in federal acquisition, procurement, or contract management
- Demonstrated experience supporting DoD or federal civilian agency acquisition programs
- Strong working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and agency-specific acquisition policies
- Experience developing acquisition documentation (SOWs, PWSs, IGCEs, acquisition strategies)
- Experience supporting source selection and evaluation processes
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or higher security clearance (if required by contract)
Preferred Qualifications
- DAWIA or FAC-C certification (or equivalent acquisition certification)
- Master's degree in a related field
- Experience supporting large-scale, multi-year federal programs or IT acquisition portfolios
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition frameworks and lifecycle management (JCIDS, PPBE, or equivalent)
- Strong briefing and executive communication skills
- Experience working in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder federal environments
